Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe has claimed that he is unsure if he will stay with the French champions next season, with Real Madrid and Arsenal both said to be hot on his tail.
Mbappe soared to stardom in his breakthrough season in Ligue 1 – scoring 15 goals and registering eight assists despite only 17 starts (12 appearances from the bench).
His name then became a massive hit around Europe too after some dazzling performances in the Champions League last season, scoring six goals in nine games, including against Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus.
And now, after months of speculation surrounding what would be a world record fee for his transfer, Mbappe has finally gone on record about what he will do with his future.
Very briefly speaking to Spanish news outlet Marca, Mbappe did his best to avoid the topic of where his future lies, before finally admitting: “I do now know if I will stay.”
The Frenchman was signing autographs for fans ahead of training with the rest of his Monaco teammates – fittingly in isolation up in Saillon, the Swiss Alps, near Lake Geneva.
At this point in time, moves for the 18-year-old look to be dependant on other occurrences. Though Arsenal were said to be keen on bringing Mbappe to the Premier League, after signing Alexandre Lacazette, it would seem unlikely that the north London club would make a move for him at this point.
In regards to Real Madrid, many would assume that Los Blancos would only make a real effort to bring him to the club if Alvaro Morata were to leave the Santiago Bernabeu – which is looking more unlikely by the day.
