What are the Premier League squad list rules?
The window’s closure means squad lists must be submitted . Premier League clubs may register 25 over-21 first team players, of whom a minimum of eight should be homegrown.
In this instance, homegrown is defined as someone of any nationality who was 21 or older on 1 January 2021 and spent three years between the ages of 16 and 21 attached to an English league team. Coaches can supplement the squad with any number of under-21 players whatever their country of birth.
What are the Champions League squad list rules?
For the Champions League, each competing club has to submit List A of their playing staff by midnight on 6 October. This comprises up to 25 players with a minimum of eight locally-trained players, of whom four must have come through the club’s own ranks between the ages of 15 and 21.
Any shortfall in those eight reduces the overall number available, and UEFA have announced five substitutions will be permitted this season, increasing the number of players selected for a matchday squad to 23.
List B, made up of players aged 21 or younger with two years’ training at their club, can still be updated at any time up to midnight before a match.
