The Blues have received a boost in their reported interest in re-signing Romelu Lukaku.

According to Sky Sports, the immediate departure of Antonio Conte from Inter Milan could allow Chelsea the opportunity to sign the Belgian international.

The former Blues manager was told he will have to cut the club’s transfer budget after winning the Serie A title for the first time in a decade, prompting the Italian to terminate his contract.

Lukaku took to social media to say thanks to his former boss for the work he has done to help him.

‘In 2014 we spoke for the first time, and we have had a bond ever since,’ he said.

‘You came at the right time and changed me as a player and made me even stronger mentally and more importantly, we won together.’

The report states that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is known to be a fan of the 28-year-old and is interested in bringing him to Stamford Bridge to further boost our attack.

Chelsea signed Lukaku as an 18-year-old, letting the attacker gain first-team minutes at West Bromwich Albion and later Everton.

Lukaku has scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists in all competitions this season as he prepares for the Euros with Belgium.
