Havertz pleased to score and delighted with Chelsea’s fighting spirit

‘It all happens so quicky, so it’s very difficult to make a decision but this is what happened and we showed what we are all about to fight until the end and come away with a draw even with one player less.’

Havertz was withdrawn at half-time as Thomas Tuchel added further defensive ranks to the side with Mateo Kovacic and Thiago Silva entering the action, and the German felt that the spirt shown by the Blues was evident to see from the sidelines.

‘We had a lot of spirit in our team and we showed a lot of character,’ added Kai. ‘I think we will learn a lot from that game, it was a hard game and both teams had a lot of quality.

‘I think the last few games have shown what we are all about and coming to a place like Liverpool and leaving with a draw is not a bad result, especially in the circumstances. I think we can learn a lot from this game and take the positives forward into the next match.’
