Tuchel takes a point in difficult circumstances

The boss confirmed seven of his players now have Covid, as well as some staff, and with injuries also affecting the Blues camp he could take pride from the way his side performed in the Black Country. Tuchel also reiterated his pre-match comments that the game should not have taken place in the current circumstances, but it did and he offered an assessment afterwards.

‘In the end you try to focus,’ said Tuchel.

‘There was a lot of noise going on in the last 24 hours. It definitely wasn’t the perfect environment to prepare for a match. We did a late meeting, a short meeting, and we tried to do our best.

‘We struggled a little bit in the first half, after a very strong start in the first five minutes. We struggled to adapt to Wolves’ shape. We were a bit late in all the challenges. The reaction in the second half was very good. It was a very good performance in the second half. We have another clean sheet so a lot of positive things.

‘It’s hard to create chances and score goals here, that was clear before. To analyse this game isolated and purely this performance, I am absolutely okay. We could have won it with a bit of luck, or a bit more quality, a shot more, little situations on our side, but I’m very happy how we played second half.’
