Hayes spoke about squad rotation, injury news and Norway international Maren Mjelde, praising her qualities and versatility.
‘Magda won’t quite make it this week but I’ll know a little bit more tomorrow but at the moment just Magda [is out].
I’ve said all along we’re squad and we play a season of 40-plus games and we don’t have a fixed starting 11, we have a group of players that are available for selection at any given week and everybody in the culture accepts that.
‘It’s fair to say we’re in a really good place and everybody is really happy with what the team is achieving so far. People think we don’t have enough centre-backs but Maren Mjelde is the starting centre-back for Norway and has spent a large part of her career there.
‘We’ve got two clean sheets and I don’t think we’ve conceded a shot on target in two games so we don’t have an issue Maren doing that job.
‘In the time she’s been here, she’s played many positions and she’s equally comfortable playing centre-back and her and Millie forged a good pairing in the last two games.
‘Her versatility is not a disservice to her, it’s a strength. Her leadership, her calm, quiet leadership, her tactical application and her determination – I think she is often one of the most underrated players in the world.’
